Natures Defender "PCO Choice" cedar oil concentrate outdoor spray is an insect control formula made from natural cedarwood oil. Designed for use on lawns, gardens and other outdoor spaces. Kills & repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, bed bugs, ants and mites.

Highly concentrated must be diluted
1 qt. of concentrate treats up to 25,000 sq. ft.
Apply monthly or as needed

Garden and Agricultural Product Notifications:

Always dilute with water per instructions for application method chosen.
Do not take internally. Keep out of reach of children.
After use, wash hands with soap and water.
May cause phytotoxic burn to plant life if applied in temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
When applying any product, one should use proper eye and glove protection.
Avoid Contact With Eyes. In case of eye contact, flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical treatment if needed.

Directions for Use - Garden and Agricultural Concentrate Outdoor Insect Control Spray - Gallon
Nature's Defender "PCO Choice" cedar oil formula.

Using Back Pack or Pump Up Sprayer:

Dilute from 2 to 4 ozs. concentrate with 1 gallon water.
Mix well. Spray areas you wish to treat. Coverage approx 1500 sq. ft.

Using a hose end sprayer:

Pour 5 ounces of concentrate into the cup of the hose end applicator.
Fill to the 32 ounce line with tap water.
Attach sprayer to a garden hose, set the sprayer controls to medium settings.
Make sure the product lever is set to "on" (if your sprayer has one). You are ready to begin spraying.
Turn on hose and spray any outdoor areas in which you wish to treat. Covers approx. 4000 sq. ft.
When the spray cup is empty, refill per above and continue spraying until finishing all areas you wish to treat.

Spray treatment tips:

Include concrete, patios, masonry, fences, lawns, gardens, trees, soil, shrubberies and other foliage.
Spray over any casual standing water to knockdown future mosquito activity.
Spray in the morning or early evening times. Avoid hot times of day since applying the oil in direct sunlight can cause phytotoxic burn to plant life.

Establishing an insect free perimeter around buildings:

Using any style applicator and dilution ratio you choose start by spraying all sides of any structure(s) you wish to protect.
Continue by spraying all ground surfaces surrounding the structure including concrete, patios, masonry, fences, lawns, gardens, trees, soil, shrubberies and other foliage while moving in an expanding radius until you have covered the perimeter you wish to protect.

Grub worm treatments:

Using 8 ounces Natures Defender to one gallon of water in a back pack, trigger or pump-up sprayer you will want to saturate the infested area(s) with solution to penetrate deep into the soil.
Best time to spray is right before a good rainfall.
Follow up with regular watering to promote deep penetration of the cedar solution into the soil.

Other common dilution ratios for treatment by applicator type:
Dilution ratio's may be altered depending on insect type(s), personal experience, geographic location and application method.

Garden type hose end sprayer:
Pour 4, 6, or 8 ounces of concentrate into cup of hose end sprayer. Fill remainder of cup with water to make 32 ounces. Replace hose end sprayer top, hook up to a garden hose and spray.
Trigger type, Back Pack, Pump up sprayers & Non Thermal Fogging Machines:
Mix 3% (or 4 ounces of concentrate to one gallon water).
Large trailer or truck mounted tank applicators:
64 ounces of concentrate to 55 gallons of water
1 gallon of concentrate to 100 gallons of water
2 gallon of concentrate to 200 gallons of water
High pressure spray equipment:
Mix 1 Quart concentrate per 300 gallons water.
Misting Systems:
Mix 32 ounces of Nature's Defender concentrate to 55 gallons of water in drum
Water Injection Systems:
2 to 3 ounces concentrate per 1000 sq. ft. per zone - per month

i spray every month - well, almost - like they recommend. i don't get cockroaches in the house anymore...i mean, not that i leave food lying around, but i leave the backdoor open at night, both to cool off the house and so my dog can go in and out. i know - i can install a doggy door, but whatever =) and i used to get flies and gnats daily...not a lot and again i don't leave food lying around. but now, hardly any, like 1 fly a month, and a gnat or two every couple weeks. really. i get the occasional spider but sometimes i forget to spray around the window air conditioners. i still see flies and stuff around my rotting oranges in the yard, and what my dog leaves behind, but i haven't seen swarms at all in my yard. you know, those gnat swarms hanging in midair? yeah, i haven't seen that at all for the past year that i've been using this cedarwood oil. fyi, i bought the cute package deal with the gizmos and pet and people spray. i'm a believer so i bought this gallon-size. i'll prolly buy more of the pet/people version later...it's great when we go out hiking - i luv the scent, my dog doesn't mind it, and i don't get itchy red bites =)

We love living in the lush Connecticut woods, but tick-borne illnesses (multiple lyme disease and multiple erlichiosis) made us afraid to go outside. ...only to find that our dogs would bring the ticks inside. Every year, someone got really sick. I hired Tick Ranger, they were vague (covered less than half the gardens), were inconsiderate of the gardens and were $200 per visit. (2 acres w/ 2,500 sq/ft of garden.) Oh, and they didn't put a dent in the ticks. So we tried Nature's Defender. We use a John Deere 45 gallon tow behind sprayer. (My tractor has an electric output) It can drop a 10' swath on each pass and it has an applicator that can shoot 30'. I spray every 4 weeks at a cost of $70 per application. The savings quickly pay for the sprayer. We spray a ten day follow up at the beginning of nymph season. OK, the results: Last year was the first in 8 years that no one got sick. Only 1 tick found on a person (nymph), hadn't bit. It is now VERY, VERY rare that we find a tick on a dog. BTW, fewer mosquitos as well. There is 0% doubt that this stuff works as advertised. You have to learn to "time the rain". A heavy rain will lower the impact this has.. So we spray when we're looking at some dry weather. Light rains are fine. After a gully washer you're much less protected. I find cedar oil hard to find. This company has always shipped promptly. Finally, I know this looks expensive. Be careful not to over use. Don't use more than they advise. Their ratio works well and is 62% cheaper than a commercial application. Did I mention that there is no poison??! We don't use any chemicals here. So it fits well. Finally, after truly suffering from tick borne illnesses, it's a lot of fun to spray the yard and imagine the ticks' exoskeletons evaporating. It's no fun being a tick around here! Friend to friend, if ticks are making your yard a nightmare, give this a try.
